fighting blog spam
I had some blog spam appear some time ago; someone trying to boost their google rating by posting links from multiple sites and blogs. To combat this, the new blog software has some built in options:
- Ajax only comments: most bots don’t understand ajax yet. Most of my reader’s browsers do, so we’ll go with for a while.
- Akismet prtection: a site that looks at posts as they are posted and returns back an answer if they look like a lot of other recent posts or spam. Kinda like what Maia does for email.
- maximum post limit: only 2 links allowed per post. That limits the damage.
