Don't pass on the right, morons!
This weekend we heard the terrible news that a family lost a one year old in a traffic accident. From what I understand, the accident was caused by a truck that passed another stopped truck by going to the right on a shoulder. This creates a blind spot for the driver on the right, unable to see what is in front of the stopped vehicle. In this case, it was a family in a van making a left turn. The van and the front truck were stopped to make mutual left turns, and the one behind decided to go around the right instead of stopping.
Becky's aunt Diane also got clipped in this manner, crossing the street on foot when another car passed a stopped car on the right. She spent 4-5 months in the hospital in casts and rehab because of that.
From now on, if I'm turning left and someone passes me on the right, I will intentionally lay on the horn.
